I have a 90 Honda civ. Dx. and just installed a 130amp high amp alternator. Then I replaced the battery with a new one from Sears. I then noticed that the battery was being overcharged because there was green liquid (acid) coming out of the top. Has anyone installed a high amp. alt in their 4th gen. civic and what was their experience...? I upgraded my alternator because I plan to install a better stereo system in the future. I also have extra lights and gadgets already in the car that require more power that the original 60 amp alternator can produce. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a higher output alternator but I also would never buy a battery from sears. Sorry just giving you a hard time. What you want is an optima deep cycle if you are gonna put a large system in there. They are sealed and won't overcharge either. I run mine down to nothing quite a few times and it charges back up fine... Hope this helps...

Re: Battery overcharging....?
I thought long and hard about which battery to get for my camping system, and I was amazed by the 100ah lifepo4 battery I bought. I was always afraid that batteries would give up quickly, especially if used on hikes and trips where constant access to charging is limited. But this battery is powerful and lightweight. During several trips to places without electricity, it provided us with energy to charge all our gadgets, and its capacity lasted for a long time.
